As we enter a new year, Andrew and I wanted to take a few moments to reflect on 2019.
For me, it was a year of traveling to places for work that I never imagined that I’d visit. In the spring, I set sail on a voyage through the Panama Canal. Our journey started in San Diego and after a few stops in Mexico, we made the crossing from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic. After a full day of taking in the views of the canal, the Atlantic Ocean greeted us as the sun set. Many people don’t know that that in Panama the sun actually rises in the west and sets in the east – it’s the only place in world where this happens!
Later that year, I was lucky enough to head to eastern Europe for 2 weeks. I was able to spend some time in St Petersburg, Russia – another amazing city that is full of beautiful architecture and history!
Andrew continued to grow in his career and was promoted to oversee the operations and finances of the company he works for. While I traveled, he was able to make sure the dogs were well cared for and had plenty of attention. This was a great opportunity to balance home and work life and prepare for the much-anticipated expansion of our family.
Andrew’s younger brother got married during 2019, and we were happy to be a part of it. We combined it with a short trip to New York City to see a Broadway play (Wicked!) and then continued on to take a train (which is something we’ve always wanted to do) to Boston and meet up with the rest of the family.
We took a long-awaited vacation for my Birthday (30th!) and spent a week of relaxation on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship! It was full of magic and exactly what we needed!
Unfortunately, the year was not all goods news. Unexpectedly, Norah, our beloved hound dog of 11 years left us in the summer after a brief battle withcancer. She was loved by us and our other dog Tegan all the way to the end. She is deeply missed.
After taking time to reflect and see how Tegan was doing, we welcomed an 18-month-old rescue puppy into our home later that year. Chance is a loving black lab mix who loves to cuddle and give kisses! He and his sister get along wonderfully and are perfect for each other! We know that Norah is happy that we were able to rescue another dog and give him a chance at a great life – just like we did for Norah!
Andrew and I also spent 2019 making life changes that will better help us protect the world that we live in! Our home is now powered by Solar energy and we purchased our first electric car! We are also exploring ways to live “green” and do our part to protect our home here on Earth!
In the end, 2019 was great! We cannot wait to see what 2020 bring us!
