Yesterday I (Beth) took Nora to her 5 year check up and get her physical updated for the adoption. We haven’t been to the doctor since her 4 year check up and the last time before that was when we first had her physical done when she was 3! We can count on one hand the number of times she’s had to go in for a sick appointment, and one of those the doctor laughed at me and said she was teething! Oops, new parent mistake! We’re thankful for such a healthy girl!
We prepared Nora by talking to her about needing her shots and having a TB test done. She’s been really intrested in the Balto story so the dTap wasn’t a big deal to her since she learned all about the original diphtheria vaccine. And now she’s up to date for when baby does come home!
And she absolutely was! She said she was unhappy with the 3rd shot but didn’t fuss or cry a single time and was thrilled with her my little pony band-aids.
After her appointment, she looked at me and said, “you know mom, I only got the TB test because I want our baby to come home.” She knows that shot was important for the adoption and it was so sweet that she was so brave to get a shot for her sibling.
