If you look, you can always find a good party to offset a sad one. Fortunately, we didn’t have to look that hard!
We took a trip up to Long Island over the weekend to celebrate Sara’s Grandmothers 95th birthday! We got there a day ahead of the festivities so we all (even the Grandmother) got a chance to wander around Sagamore Hill, Teddy Roosevelt’s home (well, one of them anyway).
The house, while not very well pictured here, was amazing. And kudos to our tour guide, who managed to take a 40 minute tour and turn it into about an hour and a half, and NONE of it was boring. And you’d think that wandering around with a 95 year-old lady would be tough, but no, it really wasn’t. The Grandmother held up like a champ, just get her close to the guide so she can hear and she was having a grand old time.
The party itself was a blast. It was clearly in the Grandmother’s honor, but from the way she told it, her grandchildren (Sara and her sister….KIND of myself thrown into the mix) were the real show.
(Sara, Grandmother, and Sister)
About the only thing that seems to excite her more than showing off her grandkids is talking about getting to one day show off her great-grandchild. Sounds like that’s her greatest annoyance right now. All her friends have great-grandchildren except for her.

So Sara’s coming down the final stretch of the school year. She’s had a very challenging class so far so I think just about everyone is looking forward to summer break. It’s pretty much same ‘ol same ‘ol for me at my work. If things don’t fall through, I think I might be getting a promotion soon, so I can’t be doing all that badly. We’re also turning our attention to what might end up being a very busy summer schedule for us. We’ve currently got 2 vacations on the books with a possibility of a 3rd (given I have enough leave to feel comfortable taking the time for it).
