We had an amazing time at Iberá National Park in Argentina! Esteban’s parents arranged for us to stay in a very rural, very beautiful ranch-style hotel that was built in the 1800s. At dinner each night, the hosts would tell us what our activities would be the next morning, and then at lunch they would tell us what we would do in the afternoon. We hiked every day with a nature guide, and also did a boat trip at one of the lagoons, a horseback ride through the tall-grass, and an afternoon kayaking. The place was beautiful and absolutely full of animals! We saw cabybaras (including some tiny babies!), foxes, three types of deer, caiman, armadillos, and many many types of birds. People there are working very hard to reintroduce endangered animals into the park, and it gave us a lot of hope to see nature thriving and protected. At the end of our trip, the staff gave awards to each of the children staying at the hotel (Best Explorer, Best Junior Scientist, etc.), so sweet! We would definitely love to go back some day with our kids!
