Meet Melissa’s new creative outlet: pottery! She took clay classes as a child, and has always been interested in learning to throw pottery on the wheel. As luck would have it, there is an adorable pottery studio in the neighborhood that offers classes! In the first five weeks, she made eight pieces from start to finish. It has been so fun to learn a new skill and to make some little gifts for family and friends (the oversized mug is for my coffee-loving dad, haha). She’s about to start a second round of classes to keep practicing, and it has been a great way to actively fill the time as we wait. Throwing pottery on the wheel is a hard, but wonderful challenge! To turn a lump of clay into a recognizable shape, and then to trim and glaze it into something beautiful, is really rewarding. We might be a science-inclined couple, but we definitely value art and creativity in our lives! Never stop learning!
