Our son, Lucas, just turned five years old. He absolutely adores his birthday. Actually, birthdays in general. We swear that this year he celebrated his birthday month not just day. Since our schedules are sometimes a little hectic with our careers we are really intentional about making the time to celebrate the important things.
This year, Lucas celebrated his birthday the day before with his morning pre-school class. Then on the day of he celebrated with his afternoon pre-school class and then in the evening we had cake and presents at home. At church the following Sunday he celebrated with his Sunday school class. Lucas then had his birthday party on Martin Luther King Jr day in the gym at church. We rented a big bounce house, because that is quite possibly his favorite thing ever, invited some friends, and had a lovely morning together.
Finally, he got to celebrate with a trip to Build-a-Bear and Red Robin for lunch and a milkshake.
Having multiple chances to celebrate together in different ways is such a blessing and helps us stay close as a family. We wouldn’t change these times for anything.
