Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!
We’ve put up the tree, hung lights so that everything is twinkling, and decked the place in red and green. The Christmas music is on the speaker and we’re ready for Santa!
Mark has baked his first batch of the family recipe Christmas cookies and his co-workers loved them. Alicia had her annual Gingerbread House Party on Saturday night. She spent all day baking the walls, roofs and chimneys, and later that evening everyone built their houses while eating snacks and listening to Christmas music. Check out the village they created!
One of our favorite things at this time of year are Christmas specials on TV and Netflix. We turn on the tree and bring the lights down low, then pile on the couch with tea and Christmas cookies to cuddle up under the blankets watching silly Christmas movies or the cartoons that Alicia loves so much. With all of this and the smell of the gingerbread house on the table, it is so Christmassy in here!
Sydney is fantastic at Christmas. There are so many events for kids of all ages. Various communities have Christmas concerts in the parks where families bring picnics and the kids can all dance around to the bands that come to entertain them with holiday songs. Santa somehow manages to be everywhere he needs to be to say hi to everyone and take requests for the big night. There are carolling groups all over the city every night and it is a treat to go corner to corner hearing them. The store windows are famous for their beautiful, festive displays that make everyone smile. There are lights everywhere and stories of people doing good things for each other are all over the TV. We love it all!
All of this festivity is to celebrate the birth of Jesus so many years ago and to remind us of all that his birth means to our world. Every child is a gift from God. We hope that this season brings you all the peace and joy that he intended for our lives.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Mark and Alicia
