The holiday season in New York City has always been festive and fun-filled. We visited the large Christmas tree at The Rockefeller Center, which has been an iconic holiday symbol for many decades. On Christmas Day, we opened gifts—even our cats Rusty and Emma had a Christmas stocking full of treats and toys. We also hosted a Christmas party in the evening for friends and neighbors. The centerpiece of the party was the yuletide log consisting of a Filipino purple yam roll cake that we decorated with candies.
For New Year’s Eve, we opted for a cozy gathering at home with friends and watched the ball drop at Times Square on TV. We also set up the karaoke—who could resist a chance to belt out one’s favorite tunes as we count down to the new year? When the midnight hour drew near, we handed out noisemakers and bubbly drinks to everyone for the toast. When the clock struck twelve, we celebrated and sang “Auld Lang Syne” on karaoke as we reminisced the passing year and grew excited for the new year. We are ever grateful for everything that we have learned and the blessings we have received in 2019. We welcome another year of unforgettable memories that is filled with love and hope.
Happy 2020 to you and your loved ones!
