Holidays are family time for us. This year, we hosted Thanksgiving at our house for Mike’s parents, his brother, and his sister-in-law. It was our first opportunity to use the extra leaves on our pull-out table, and it was wonderful to fill the house with so many loved ones.
We will travel to Kentucky for Christmas, to see Lindsay’s parents, her sisters, and their families. Lindsay’s nieces are ages 3 and 1, and it is so much fun to watch them open presents. This year, Lindsay is giving them personalized puzzles made with their pictures.
Lindsay bakes a lot for the holidays–cookies, cakes, bread. It’s a time for eating and sharing.
As we spend this holiday season, we are also thinking about the future and celebrating with a family of our own. Lindsay is thinking about making a baby his or her own tree ornaments out of a photo and felt frame–a family tradition. Mike is looking forward to listening to Christmas music with a child (after Thanksgiving, he tends to play the soundtrack to Charlie Brown’s Christmas on loop endlessly).
