We went to a family reunion this weekend. I love family reunions. We have such awesome, big, close and amazing families on both sides. It makes things really fun. On Barrie’s side of the family, they love being outdoors. Whether it is riding horses, hauling hay, hiking, boating or working on the land…they want to do it. So, I went all dressed for a family reunion – you know, sitting in the shade drinking lemonade and talking with relatives. Well…after doing that for a while, the party shifted to raising a barn. I laughed so hard as I got into the tractor to work on tamping down the gravel for the base of the new barn. I of course, was not dressed for such an occaision, but that is what I should take away from this experience. Always take clothes to barn raise in 🙂
I will say that I have never driven a tractor before and I quite enjoyed it. I love having our kids learn new skills like that and working hard on the land. The kids know how to feed horses, haul hay and now they are learning to put in fencing and raise a barn. Hard work is good and it is fun to work together and see the fruits of your labor. It was not what I was expecting, but it always ends up more fun that I ever imagined. I love being part of this amazing, hard-working family!
