We are very fortunate to have my parents living nearby. They are thrilled by the prospect of another grandson or grandaughter. We see my parents often for dinner out or a family get-together. Frequently, they take Colby on different outings.
I have an older sister and brother-in-law who live about an hour away. My sister and I are close and love to spend time or shop together. My sister’s children (my niece and nephew) are in their twenties. I am especially close to my niece and have lots of happy memories of watching both my niece and nephew often.
My older brother and sister-and-law live about six hours away. We see them a few times a year, and they have three boys. The youngest is about Colby’s age, and the other two are teenagers.
When all of the family gets together, it is not unusual to have nearly twenty people. In the last few years, I have been cooking Christmas dinner and have managed to seat everyone, but with more than one table! Aunts, uncles, and cousins also come for holiday dinners, and we have a great time together.
