We feel really luckly to have been able to host our familiy for Thanksgiving this year. Dan’s parents and brother joined us from Wisconsin in addition to Dan’s sister and brother-in-law as well as our good friends Evan and Allison. We all cooked a few dishes and it turned out to be a very impressive feast–turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, greens, cranberries, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, and three kinds of pie. Plus, the table looked great!
Everyone came together midafternoon and most people stayed late into the night talking, playing games, and enjoying more food. We are both so thankful to have such strong relationships with both of our families and to have a strong network of friends in the city. As we went around the table expressing what we are thankful for, both of us mentioned how grateful we are to have close relationships and so much support as we grow our family. We are both excited to have a baby join our family and Dan’s mom, dad, brother, and sister all mentioned several times how excited they are to have another grandchild/nephew/niece.
Later this weekend, we had our good friends from Philadelphia with their two daughters stay with us on their way back from Thanksgiving with family in North Carolina. Dan hung out with Berkeley demonstrating how much they both need haircuts while Chris showed the girls his favorite new phone game, Mario Cart. Spending time with our good friends’ kids makes us even more excited to have our own. And it’s such good practice!
