Happy Easter! We had a wonderful weekend celebrating Easter! Growing up, my mom made holidays super special! She would always have special treats on the table to surprise us on the morning of the holiday and I have happily carried on that tradition. For this Easter, Audrey woke up to Cinderella legos and of course some treats. Paul got me some new sunglasses since mine broke and I got him his FAVORITE oreos – carrot cake. Something really important to Paul and I is we want our kids to understand Christmas and Easter. We know the morning of Easter was going to be exciting, so we took time Saturday evening to read the story from the bible about Jesus dying for our sins and being risen on Easter!
On Easter, we went to church and then we went to some friend’s house for an Easter lunch and egg hunt. Audrey had a blast and loved helping the younger kids find eggs.
On Saturday we went to a big Easter Egg hunt in our city and Audrey was excited to run into the Easter bunnies!
Other highlights from the weekend – I took Audrey to get some new spring shoes and she was SO happy b/c the ones she picked looked like my beloved chacos:)
Paul made a DELICIOUS peanut butter tunnel of fudge cake for Easter – it was SO good and fudgey!
Other highlights from the week…Paul got a colonoscopy and it was healthy! Paul’s mom passed away from colon cancer when she was 47 – so since Paul turned 30 he has colonoscopies every 5 years. I am so proud of him for making sure he is healthy and around for our family and our kids as they grow up!
I only have 3 more weeks of school left! So far this has been the best part b/c we have had so really fun labs. We got to dissect a sheep brain and I got to see a real human brain! It was so cool and as a visual learner – it really helps me to remember and understand things we are learning about. Tonight we get to dissect cow eyeballs! I am really looking forward to that.
A few weeks ago, Audrey wanted to plant seeds – I didn’t have any yet, but I did have an apple. She planted the apple all by herself and has been watering it for a few weeks. Today, she came inside and was SO excited b/c it sprouted! I was shocked and didn’t think it would. I am excited she loves gardening as much as we do! I wonder if the new baby will like to play outside and garden too?
I hope your Easter was fabulous! I wonder if you have special traditions in your family for Easter or if you have a favorite Easter candy? Or your favorite memories as a kid surrounding the holidays?
