The weeks are passing by fast this time of the year! It all started with a big family weekend, filled with playing games, talking and lots of talking. Erik’s parents rented a big house where we could stay, cook, and take the time to enjoy the company
Via our adoption agency in the Netherlands, we got new friends who just where back from the US, with their new baby. We went on maternity visit to hear all their stories, but above all to enjoy the little Judah!
On December 5th, we celebrate ‘Sinterklaas’. This is a typical Dutch party especially for kids who really enjoy this. The younger kids will put their shoes at a fireplace, sings songs, and in the morning find a gift in their shoe (from Sinterklaas). Because Femke work’s with kids, we celebrated this with them, and some of our nieces. They could place their shoe at a fake fireplace, sing some songs to find a gift in their shoe the next day.
In the meantime we are also enjoying the preparations for Christmas.
Part of the waiting is also saving for the adoption cost, and this year we will sell ‘oliebollen’ (deep fried doughnut balls). This is typical Dutch and is only done with New Years Eve. As part of the preparation we did a practice routine with Minze (brother of Erik) and Marieke (his wife).
This helps us during the waiting period, and gives us time to enjoy friends and family!
