When I first met Jean we found we had that connection that one hopes to find. We have a lot in common as well as diferences that balance each other out. I feel truly blessed to have her in my life. My love for her continues to grow everyday we are together. There is not a day that I take the love we have for each other for granted.
In addition to having touched my life with such impact, I admire how she touches those around her which includes our family members, friends, acquaintances and even perfect strangers. Her genuine concern, as well as the actions she takes to help people reflects the sympathetic, understanding, caring person she is. She wants to help whenever and however she can.
Most recently, in our own family, Jean helped take care of my Mom who lives with us and began the year off quite ill. She spent time with her at the hosital, took her to followup appointments and oversaw necessary medication adjustments. She also modified meals to entice her to eat while she was recovering. After three weeks of care and recovery, I am happy to say Mom is healthy and back to work.
From a broader persepective, Jeans frequent involvement in fund raising is impactful. Whether it be for the Church, a local non-profit organization, the American Cancer Society, Diabetes Foundation or tornado victims in need (and there are others), you can count on Jean to lend a hand. Her efforts have resulted in thousands of dollars being raised a number of times.
Jean enjoys cooking, experimenting with recipes weekly from cuisines all over the world. What great perk is this in a household… homemade meals of a vast variety both healthier and enjoyable. She has even rubbed off on me. I find myself looking for recipes I would like her to make, as well as participate in preparing some of those meals, enjoying the time spent together as we do so.
Creativeness is one of Jean’s great passions. This is refelcted in the kitchen in her baking/decorationg skills. Another area you see this is in our house that she has tastefully decorated making it feel like home. Her most recent project is window treatments. Having completed the master bedroom, she is now working on the guest room to block out that morning sun that has been known to wake up our overnight guests. We enjoy beautiful views of nature from every window, so Jean is making sun blocking curtains that can be drawn when needed but otherwise opened wide to allow that beauty in. The goal is to provide our overnight guest a more comfortable, restful stay.
After completeing this, Jean wants to learn to make roman blinds for the family room and future nursery. These allow for functonal window treatments with no cords making it safer with the dogs currently and an adopted child in the future. Just one of a number of projects on Jean’s list.
With spring approaching, Jean will carry her decorating skills outdoors, strategically selecting and planting flowers outdoors. That feeling of home will be felt outdoors, enhancing the beauty of the nature that surrounds us with some color to enjoy through the spring, summer and fall months.
