This year we started a new tradition with Nora, the kindness dolls. We want to cultuvate a spirit of kindness in our home and while Nora is an exceptionally sweet and kind kid, we know that intentional acts of kindess are important too.
She named her dolls, Nella and Arlo. Each day they bring a new task for her to do to show kindness to others. Things like picking out toys for children in the children’s hospital, donating loved books to the library, making a new friend at the park, or making dinner for a new family in town.
She loved making dinner to take to a family! It’s been sweet to see her get excited about what we’re going to do the next day to show kindess to others. It’s even helped her glady go through things like her toys she doesn’t play with to give to other kids. We’ve been talking with her about when we have more than what we need, we should give and share with others. It’s also been helpful refocusing this season on what we can do for other people rather than thinking about what we want for ourselves.
