This summer Eddie and I had the joy to meet our nephew. This is my brothers first child, so in addition to Eddie and my excitement, both my parents and my sister-in-laws parents were super excited to meet the little guy.
He was about 1 month old when we met him, but he is already well loved and cared for for all of us.
My brother and I are only two years apart, and we are super close. It is a bit surreal to see him as a parent, becuase I still think of him as that brother who sat on me when I was little, but he is also the brother who stood up to bullies for me in middle school, looked after me, let me hang around him and his friends, and will make jokes and drive my family crazy with me when we play board games.
Eddie and I are excited to see our Nephew again at Christmas. By then he will be six months and he will be well on his way to recognizing us, lifting himself up, and he will most likely have a full head of red hair.
I think the best part of meeting our nephew was watching my mom and dad. They were so happy, they started to cry. I know they have wanted to be grandparents for a long time, and while they have never pressured my brother or I, I know it was something they also have been looking forward to, and look forward to for us.
Meeting our nephew brought up further excitement for the day Eddie and I get to add a member to the family. We know the child will be wraped in love and care and have nieces and nephews to look after him or her.
