The Friday before memorial day we found an abandoned baby robin in our playhouse. The poor thing was with it’s two dead siblings and Anna decided to try and save it. All weekend we fed our bird that our daughter named “Tweety” every 30 minutes during the day. It was so little and helpless but had a big appetite. Amazingly, just one week later it was strong enough to go hop around outside and sleep in our bushes instead of its “nest” in our garage. By Sunday it flew off! It was a wonderful experience for our daughters to experience hand raising a baby bird and I am so thankful we’ll have that nice memory. I’m also thankful that Nathan’s mother allowed Tweety to live in her garage over Memorial Day weekend so we could continue our tradition of spending the weekend with her by the pool. I can’t wait to have another child that can share in these kinds of experiences.
