Well, August is the slowest of the summer months for us, so I thought I would share a little about our families.
Travis is the second of 4 kids. His parents just celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. They live just down the road from us. Travis dad has always worked on the farm, but he also is the leading pastor in our church. Travis mom has always been able to stay stay at home with the kids as they grew up, and now she enjoys her many flower & vegetable gardens, as well as having the grandchildren over. All of Travis siblings are married with kids. His oldest sister is married to a dairy/grain farmer (he is also a pastor), and they have 5 kids. Travis brother works on the farm with him; his wife is able to stay home with the kids, and together they have 4 boys. Travis youngest sister is an LPN, her husband works in construction, and they have 2 children. They all live within 10 minutes driving distance from us.
Shannon’s parents have been married 32 years. Her dad works the concrete trucks for a construction business, and her mom is a receptionist at a trucking company. Shannon is the oldest, with 2 sisters, who are also married. Her middle sister is an office manager, her husband does the finish work on houses, and they have 2 girls. Shannon’s youngest sister is married to a window salesman, and they have 3 children. They actually just moved back here in June, so they are only now 30 minutes away.
We both have lots of extended family, and most live in Saskatchewan. We feel blessed to have so much family support with this adoption. Travis extended family is multi-racial. His uncle is from Ghana, so he has several multi-racial cousins. Travis has a cousin who returned from South Africa about 2 years ago with a son whom they adopted.
We hope that gives you a little glimpse into our families.
