President’s Day weekend was a four-day weekend for both me and Matt, and it turned into a jam-packed weekend! On Saturday we had lunch with one of Matt’s old bosses and then went to see The King’s Speech at the National Theater with the boss, his wife, and two of their friends. I had seen the movie The Kings Speech several years ago and enjoyed it. The play was amazing; it was well-acted with great scenery and costumes. Matt and I don’t go to a lot of plays, we tend to go to musicals more frequently, but we both had a great time. Saturday ended with a great dinner to celebrate Matt’s birthday, which was last week. We went to one of Matt’s favorite restaurants with my little sister and ate waaaaay too much food, which was the perfect way to celebrate a birthday!
On Sunday we went indoor skydiving! This was my birthday present to Matt and he said he’d only go if I went with him. I was a little worried at first becuase I hate the feeling of falling, but we both had a blast! It was neat to feel like we were flying and I didn’t feel like I was falling at all! I may even be able to talked into going again someday, although I don’t think I’ll be ready to jump out of a plane anytime soon.
Monday Matt and I hiked to Overall Falls in Shenandoah National Park. We used to hike all the time when we lived in Colorado, but we got out of the habit when we moved to San Antonio. There are so many great places to go hiking near where we live in Virigina, so our goal this year is to get out more! We hiked about seven miles total, and we were exhausted by the end! We’ll keep at it, though, and we’ll try for some longer hikes as the weather keeps getting nicer. We started making plans to go camping this spring and summer, and we’ll probably plan some nice, long hikes around our camping trips.
While we were hiking I kept thinking about how we will take our child with us on all of these amazing adventures. I can’t wait to take our kid hiking and camping and showing them all the neat things our world has to offer. Matt and I love to travel and experience new things, and we are so looking forward to sharing that with our child!
