I am overflowing with gratitude as I look back on 2019. My business grew, I’ve never felt better. I have nurtured relationships with my nieces & nephews, and I made the ultimate decision to ADOPT! Since that day, when the vision became so clear, I haven’t had a moment of sadness, only hopefull. As I rolled into 2020, I am over-the-moon excited that this may be the year I become a family.
The thing to do this year, rather than a resolution, was to choose a word. Choose your word of 2020 that reflects who you are, your goals, your dreams, your direction. My word was simple. Mom.
The winter months are quiet for me. The wedding venue is marketing and doing lots of wedding planning, but I have found that I have ample down time to occupy. I have had tons of fun traveling short distances for 1 and 2 day fitness getaways. I have met some amazing & inspiring people, I have become a better fitness intructor, and have seen little hidden pockets of beauty in our region. Driving through PA, NY, and NJ, finding cycle classes, barre classes, urban restaurants, and new experineces.
I have also had a chance to reconnect with some friends from college. One in particular is my college roomate Ellen. She, like me is 42 and rocking life. She recently had a baby girl, and it melted my heart to know that there are MANY women out there, like me, who are beginning thier families at at later stage of life. We had an endless conversation about how we are better equipped now to be mothers than we ever could have imagined being in our youth.
This winter has been about gaining confidence. Confidence in my decision to adopt, in my community of people who will become my circle of support, and confidence of how fit and active I can be! I will continue to keep busy with my day trips, once a week to a new place. Despite my postitive attitude, I do dislike the chilly temperature and look forward to all of the things that come with spring. Longer day, bike rides, and blooms of the trees.
