This is an act of trust that I have trouble putting into words.
It is a hope and a wish and a plan that we are working to make happen, one we are preparing for and investing in.
I also know that it will be a reminder
that I walk past the door, that I need something from that closet, or that I need to grab a book off of those shelves.
I know that one day, I will take out the bolts and dismantle it. We will either give it to friends or our church or donate it.
My hope, my prayer is that it will be well-used between now and then, that we will spend many hours next to it,
humming softly and praying for sleep
settling in the rocking chair to read together
wishing the diaper genie was built more like a starship’s airlock or a bank vault door
wondering if a bottle is too warm or too cold or too full-of-air bubbles
trying to remember where a favorite blankie made it off to
Today, I am trying to focus on the moment and on what I/we can do to help all of that come to pass.
