Yesterday was St. Nicholas Day. Beth’s family is German and St. Nicholas day is a tradition in German culture.
On St. Nicholas Day, children leave their shoes out to be filled with oranges and coins from St. Nicholas. We give Nora a christmas book and an ornament for this year. Since she’s crazy about cats and ballet we got her a ballerina kitty ornament!
Nora was very excited but apparently doesn’t smile in pictures before breakfast.
Beth also made a German dinner for us.
German schnitzle and hot German potato salad. The food was delicious, and it was nice sharing some of Beth’s culture with Nora.
We’re excited to learn some of your family traditions and hopefully incorperate them into our family as well.
