Hi, it’s Stephanie writing today. I thought I’d write a bit about what my day to day life is like being a stay at home mom to Maggie. We are so fortunate that Braden’s business allows me to spend every day with her. Even as a child I knew that I wanted to stay home with my own children one day.
After Maggie wakes up in the morning we get dressed and have breakfast. I almost always have some activity out of the house planned for the morning. She loves getting to be around other kids. Our rec center just a few minutes from our house has a toddler play time twice a week and our library holds storytime as well. If we don’t have any of these activities to do we’ll go out to another kid based adventure: the local children’s museum, an indoor slide park, a bounce house center, or even just a park to play on the playground. Once we get home we have lunchtime and nap (for Maggie, I use this time to try to get the house cleaned up!). After nap time we usually run some errands or play a bit more. Recently, we’ve been going on a bike ride, learning how to ride the tricycle, playing with bubbles, or just playing with our dog, Jax. (We love living in the south where we can do all of this in January!) If the weather doesn’t allow for outside fun we stay inside and read books, or do some crafts; Maggie has really been getting into play dough and coloring recently.
Braden usually gets home in time to play before dinner. We all eat dinner as a family together, and have since Maggie started eating solid food at 6 months old. It’s been such an important family time for us. After dinner we usually relax in the living room and sometimes watch a family movie (Moana and The Lorax are her favorites right now). Maggie typically ends up cuddled up with Braden or I for a while before we start our bedtime routine.
I love my stay at home mom life, and I’ve gotten to meet some really wonderful other moms through all of our activities. Many of them are expanding their families right now as well; it makes for an amazing support system as we navigate through the challenges that come up with motherhood sometimes.
All three of us hope that you are doing well. Please know how much love we have for you and that we are praying for you every day.
