This weekend was been absolutely perfect weather-wise. After a very hot August and very wet week, we were so excited to have beautiful, dry days in the 70s that we spent almost all of Saturday and Sunday outside.
Every year our neighbors have a big crab feast and invite the whole neighborhood. We spent the entire afternoon talking with neighbors, watching over the kids running laps through the house and out the back, and extracting crab meat from their pokey shells. It was the perfect way to catch up with the lives our close friends and neighbors. It really is a special neighborhood–having in depth conversations with our racially diverse neighbors very much fills me with gratitude.
On Sunday we met Dan’s sister, brother-in-law, and another couple of close friends in Lincoln Park in our neighborhood. We packed a blanket, snacks to share, and Berkley’s gear and walked over to the park with a beautiful breeze at our backs. We spent three lovely hours talking, playing with Berkeley, and saying hi to neighbors. This is something we’re so excited to do with our baby when he or she joins us. We feel very lucky to live just a mile from Dan’s sister and spending a summer afternoon in the sun in Lincoln Park is pretty close to heaven for us.
