Only seven weeks ago we welcomed our niece Emma into our lives, a truly wonderful addition to our family.
But this week the circle of life came to full perspective. Last Tuesday at the age of 93 we had to say goodbye to Jos his grandmother. Minutes after she enjoyed a nice lunch she passed away. And although we are grateful for the long time she had on earth, we will miss her.
For over 55 years Jos his grandparents lived in California and in the past decade we went to see them and stay with them several times. In those times we had some of the best conversations we’ve ever had with his grandmother. She talked about her experiences during World War II and how she went from Holland to Switzerland and finally to the States. She also introduced us to several of her American friends.
Those conversations and all the laughs we had together forms great memories of a very special lady. We will remember her kind hearth and the positive attitude that she had. In those ways she is an inspiration to both of us. And while we will miss her, we are grateful for the fact that she has been such a part of our lives.
Next week we will go to Switzerland to commemorate her and celebrate the live she had.
