The last week or so has been a difficult time. At first it was just things like a travel ban from Europe, entire seasons of the NBA and NHL suspended, concert venues shut down, and major events like marathons canceled. Now, schools are closed, people are working from home, and a bunch of stores are closed, too. These are some pretty crazy times. Times like this make us very thankful for each other, for our families, and our tight circle of friends here in DC. As one of our last in-person we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday. Dan made shepherd’s pie and Chris made a surprisingly good cabbage dish. It’s so nice to have family so close—especially in times like this.
We’ve been doing a whole lot of home cooking. Good practice!
We were planning to take a long trip abroad (which we feel incredibly lucky to have been able to take in the first place), but it was canceled. While we were really disappointed at first, I can’t imagine what it would be like to be abroad right now and trying to get back into the country. This time has brought Chris and I closer together and we’re so happy to have Berkeley with us right now. I imagine this is a very difficult time for new parents and pregnant women, especially so we are thinking and sending good energy to anyone in those circumstances.
We are spending lots of quality time together as a family and doing some planning for when our family gets a little larger (hopefully soon!). Dan hung curtains and we’re ordering furniture for the nursery. We hope you are safe and remain healthy over the next few months.
