A couple of weeks ago, we finished the baby room. We decided to do it early, this time around, because when we adopted Gregory, we only had a couple of days notice which means that we had nothing. Literally. The weekend we got him, all of our best friends and family got together with us and got everything ready for us. We went shopping for hours, making sure we had everything that we needed at that time. While we were shopping, some people stayed back at our house to put the crib and stroller together for us. It was fantastic and one of the best weekends of our lives. If not the best.
The following weekend, we had an adoption shower planned. It was actually planned a few months before and we were just going to have some of our friends and family get together to celebrate the fact that we were going to be adopting. But since we took Gregory home the week before that, he was able to be there. Which meant it turned into one heck of a party with 80 people we adore! Everyone got to meet him and show his just how much they care.
After the party, his room was finally finished. Adam is an artist so he painted the entire room by himself with a giant tree and animals and clouds. It was wonderful.
Now, for those of you who know me know that I am the most organized and prepared person in the entire world. To have a baby and not have everything ready and situated was awful. I had bad dreams about it, my anxiety spiked…just terrible. Fast forward to this time around and we are 100% ready. The entire room is done, we know which childcare we’ll be using, a few of our friends have already purchased gifts for us etc.
We are ready for you, little one, and hope to hear something soon!
