As winter gradually approaches an end, Bret and I have taken advantage of some bad weather days when we were off and had time to catch up on some inside projects. Knocking these out now will give us more time outside when weather starts to improve.
Bret had a number of miscellaneouse fix it or improvement projects on his list around the house that he has completed. He also continues to work on plans to be able to start working on the new barn to go up when weather allows. Permits are in progress and nearly completed. We are waiting on estimates for the concrete foundation and septic, which we will contract out. The rest of the build Bret will do mostly on his own (with assitance of course).
I also have caught up on numerous projects. I had a backlog of sewing projects awaiting completion. Now with only a couple remaining, I have new ones on my mind to start. The main one I had wanted to complete were the guest room curtains, just in time for family visiting and staying with us in mid-March.
Besides sewing and miscellaneous projects of my own around the house, I have worked on some required continuing eduaction credits. In addition, I am working on a new certification which would allow me to work from home, better enabling me to schedule my own hours thus allowing me to be a full-time or nearly full-time stay at home mom while still contributing to our household income. We don’t want a child to be raised by daycare. It is important to us that the child be raised by us full-time especially the first couple years. At that point, it will be important to gradually introduce them into pre-school, sociallizing them with other children, preparing them for school.
Having an in home babysitter is also an added perk and option we have with Bret’s Mom living with us. No doubt she will be more than willing to participate in providing child care any time needed.
As for Shirley and Betty, they are looking forward to spring. More outside play time is always a welcome treat. Betty is growing quickly now at almost 36 lbs. She is almost done with her series of puppy vaccines, with only one more round to go. She will be bigger than Shirley who is 56 lbs but not by much we suspect since her paws are not very big. They have really bonded well, spending hours playing together, as well as on thier own. Betty finds leaves intriguing, especially one recent wind day. With so many of them blowing around, she thought it was just the best as she went chasing after them…..but which to chase first??? It is funny to watch her as she is still experiencing a lot of things for the first time.
