A lot has happened since I wrote last! We have been super busy! I finished my project at the house for one thing. Then Nana (my mom) came to visit and watch the boys so Bianca and I could go on vacation. We got back Monday and have been playing cathup ever since. Apparently the world didn’t stop while we were taking a break… It had been so many years since I had a real vacation I had forgotten!
So the finished back patio is below. I still have a little mortar to add between a few joints, but overall it turned out really well. I am very happy with it and it drains water away from the house which was the main goal. Blocks are really solid as well, no shifting. There is so much more space too!
Nana showed up on the last Thursday of July to watch the boys and spend time with them while we were gone. We hated leaving them, but they had a lot of fun while we were gone. Nana brought presents and took the boys to a lot of parks. She even found some new places to take them, like Santee Canal Park!

The vacation was amazing! My first relaxing vacation in nearly a decade! I have taken a few other trips between then and now but only one attempt at an actual vacation for myself… let’s just say it didn’t go well, but it was definitely worth it because it led to me meeting Bianca. We went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for vacation. We joined our friends Sean and Katrina there. It was an all inclusive resort which was a new experience. Food covered 24/7, 5 pools, water slides, and entertainment. Not to mention the beach! If I’m being honest, I hate the beach here. The texture of the sand gets to me, but the sand there was so incredibly soft I actually miss being there! Not something I would ever think I’d say. We also went on an excursion where we got to swim in a pool with a waterfall, zipline into the water, jump into a sinkhole filled with water, and swim in a cave! There was a cave for exploring as well.

Overall it was very refreshing! We love the kids, but we definitely needed the rest! I managed to finish two more books in the Red Rising series as well! Golden Son and Morning Star. Both book were great, although I don’t think either was as good as the first. Jury is still out on Iron Gold, the fourth book. So far as music goes, a quick shoutout to Through Glass by Hands Like Houses. Very good song that I discovered Tuesday and I’ve been listening to ever since.
