Every December we decorate our tree with tons of ornaments, many of which belonged to Liz’s mom (she collected Hallmark), and now we even have over 4 boxes’ worth of the trendy retro metallic ball ornaments that used to belong to Liz’s grandparents. Jarr’s mom instilled in him the belief that every last ornament must be hung on the tree, so it’s a big undertaking! We’re proud of our tree this year!! There’s a nice happy glow in our living room.
Our favorite tradition is to watch Christmas Eve on Sesame Street while trimming the tree. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a MUST WATCH! All the original Muppets, even Kermit the Frog, celebrate the holidays together, while Big Bird tries to unravel one of the greatest mysteries of Christmas: how does Santa get down that itty-bitty chimney with all those presents?!! It’s an adorable show, with two original songs that invoke the true meaning of this time of year, with lyrics like:
But the greatest wonder of them all
Is not what’s happening around you, it’s the way you start to be
Yes the greatest wonder of them all is how your heart is filled with love
You start to light up like a Christmas tree
Feelings feel so wonderful, you have to let them show
Maybe that’s why ev’ryone begins to get a glow and fill their hearts with Christmas
Spirit they can share
That’s the best part of Christmas—-
And if that isn’t a true blue miracle,
I don’t know what one is
Liz has loved this show since she was a tiny kid, and after all these years together, Jarrett seems to know most of the words too! We are excited to continue this tradition with the child we are blessed with one day. It’s one of those special moments we are so looking forward to.
Anyway, we just wanted to share a little piece of who we are, and wish you all the best this holiday season!
