Vacation time! As we’ve been anxiously waiting for a potential intended match, we try to enjoy quality time together. We love to travel and the US is always one of our favorite places to visit.
This time we decided to take a road trip in the west and visit Chicago on the way back home. We love to drive around the country and spend a couple of days in every major city we pass. Also we like to go hiking in national parks. The west has plenty of those by the way, many of them very different from each other. We usually sleep in motels and hotels although we definately look forward to go camping one day as a family .
So we started off in San Francisco. Here are a few pics taken around it’s most famous landmark:
Off went to explore the Yosemite National Park. Once in the park, we love to hike different trails.
Next we drove southbound to explore the Pacific Coastal Highway 1, one of the world’s most scenic highways, located between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
In Los Angeles, we paid a visit to the Warner Brothers TV Studios. They offer a studio tour that include the opportunity to take pictures in typical TV or movie sets. Here we can be seen in the set that’s used for the Gilmore Girls show.
Next up we drove eastbound to visit Las Vegas. Most people either love it or hate it, but anyone can easily spend a few days here without getting bored. Here we are pictured exploring the city.
The water fountain show at the Bellagio hotel remains one the best free open-air shows in town!
Before flying back home to the Netherlands, we spent a few days in Chicago. We learned that “The Windy City” doesn’t actually refer to the weather but to the local politics. Interesting!
One of the most famous sights up there is a sculpture that’s officially named “Cloud Gate”. Truth is, it’s better known as “The Bean” due to it’s shape. It’s polished appearance make it an ideal “selfie-spot” with the famous Chicago skyline reflected in the background.
And here’s a pic of us at the waterfront. We do like the view of skyscrapers!
Chicago really is worth a visit but you must go in late spring or summer as we learned the weather can be rather harsh in winter.
The US has always had a special place in our hearts and we look forward to traveling there as a family. It offers an extremely diverse landscape with different kinds of cities and nature parks. We find that American people are usually friendly and helpful, too.
