So it has been nearly a week since I returned from Quantico. Cannot say that I miss it. One unexpected outcome of that trip has been acquiring a new book series that I absolutely love. I had my old tablet with me on the trip, but got tired of reading what I had downloaded. Since I had some time between my flight and the conclusion of my business last week I did two things:
1. I watched Dark Phoenix in the theater. Well worth the 11 bucks I spent on it.
2. I went to Barnes and Noble to pick out a book.
Reading through a bunch of reviews on a Sci-fi literature site I like I’ve repeatedly come across the Red Rising series so I decided to give it a try. Glad I did! I am nearly 3/4 of the way done with the first book and it is amazing.
Once I finish the first book the library has the other two in the series available for digital check out or paper copies. That’s always nice.
So far the series reminds me of the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher and The Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. Both are favorites of mine. I read a lot of Sci-fi/Fantasy. I guess by the end of the day I’ve had enough real life.
Speakign of real life, our youngest got sick last night. I had to get up with him for an hour last night and the poor kid was sick again this morning. All better now! Or so it appears. Hard to tell sometimes.
