Hello, my name is Julita! I would like to thank you for taking the time to view and read my profile. I live by the motto “To whom much is given, much is required.” Most people describe me as a loyal, driven, and committed individual. And, I like to utilize my talents and blessings to help uplift others.

I was born in Washington, DC and grew up in the same home throughout my childhood. So, I believe in creating a stable, warm, and safe environment for myself and a child. Growing up, I was also able to travel abroad to several countries and within the states, gaining an exposure and understanding of different cultures. I look forward to continuing the adventure with a child, learning about the world.

Adoption is not new to me and my family. I am thankful to have close cousins that have been adopted at birth or through foster care. It has always been my desire to become a mother and provide for, love, and nurture a child to reach his or her fullest potential.

I appreciate your consideration and if chosen, I promise to raise a child with care, thoughtfulness, and love. I have so much to offer and hope to instill the values of determination, education, and self-love in the child I adopt.

I love my city. I currently work as an Operations Manager for a minority-owned real estate and property management company based in DC. I’ve been able to utilize my analytical, financial, and organizational skills to affect positive change for a business that works largely to help low to moderate income residents. I also own and rent real estate, as well. My career has been rewarding and has offered financial stability and flexibility as I begin the journey and lifelong commitment to grow my family through adoption.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, dancing, working out, completing sudoku puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. At home, you’ll probably find me relaxing with a hot cup of tea while watching the latest movie on the Hallmark Channel.

I live in a three-bedroom, single-family home. One of my favorite places is the home’s main level. Whether in the kitchen or living room, it is an open space built for family time and engaging company. It is a perfect space for a spacious play area. I also have a room that is ready for a child. It is sunny, cozy, and roomy enough for a child to grow. I have already started envisioning what books to read, library events to attend, museum exhibits to explore, and recreational activities to engage a child for learning and fun!

The neighborhood has a mixture of city and suburban feel. While in walking distance or a quick bus ride to the subway and access to many attractions, there are also quiet, tree-lined streets, local small businesses, parks, schools, and a family-oriented environment. A favorite pastime of mine is relaxing on the front porch, speaking with neighbors, enjoying a good book, or simply watching the passing cars.

The surrounding community offers many unique opportunities to experience farmer’s markets, bike rides, plays, and other cultural activities. The best part is that I am only ten minutes away from the neighborhood where I was raised and where my mother still resides. It is wonderful to have her so close for support and her house filled with many stuffed animals for entertaining visits!

I am blessed to have a loving family that is very supportive. Many of my family members live in the DC Metropolitan area. We are a family with big hearts that embraces everyone. And, I know they are all delighted with the idea of adding to our family through the blessing of adoption. They can’t wait to shower a child with love and affection!

I have one sister, who has both a son and a daughter. I was thrilled to be there for both my nephew’s and niece’s births and to welcome them into the world. I absolutely adore them and have been delighted to be involved in helping with their development. My sister will be an awesome aunt with her bubbly personality and experience raising children. My nephew and niece will be great older cousins ready to share and teach all that they know.

My parents have been separated since I was young. However, my mom and dad have always provided unconditional love and are shining examples of devotion to family. My dad is the caregiver to my grandmother, while my mom consistently gives her time to family and friends in need of care and encouragement. They will be the best grandparents a child could have through all their limitless hugs and attention.

My family has many traditions. We always make sure we get together to celebrate Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, graduations, and other special occasions. In the summer, we cannot let the days pass by without a crab feast!

Celebrating Christmas has always been a memorable experience. The holiday has evolved through the years from my sister and I wrapping the presents for my cousins to drawing a family member’s name at Thanksgiving for Christmas gift exchange. As the family has grown, my aunt and uncle have traditionally opened their home for large extended family party. It is a joy to share the holiday with the entire family over good food and a lively white elephant gift exchange.

Growing up as a child, we often went on family vacations to the beach. In the past ten years, I have been able to travel with the family on trips to the Caribbean, a cruise, explored caverns, and have taken plenty of road trips for weeklong vacations. We are a family who likes to spend time together and engage in good conversation and laughter. And, are whole-heartedly ready to embrace a child into the customary celebrations and vacation journeys.

I believe in the traditional African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child.” It is always beneficial to be surrounded with people who have knowledge in diverse areas, able to share different approaches to addressing important topics, and offer advice and wise tips. Along with my family and extended family, my friends are like family. The support they provide on a regular basis is amazing. While adopting as a single parent, my friends are excited and willing to provide a strong village for a child, offering a helping hand, a listening ear, and serving as enthusiastic role models.

My friends and I have shared in various activities, traveled together, went to concerts, celebrated one another, and just appreciated good meal togethers. I have a solid core of friends that will certainly be active participants in the child’s life. My best friend, Nia, and I have been inseparable for the past twenty-eight years. During a function in junior high school, we discovered that we shared the same great aunt and uncle. How cool is that! She will be a source of reinforcement and exposure to enhance the child’s upbringing. I also have two male friends that are great individuals and family men. I’ve seen how nurturing and loving they are with their young children. I know that they will offer the masculine viewpoint and help balance out the support system.
